Documenting Family Life: The Zoo

Paul Gildea July 26, 2017

As our little ones get older we find ourselves making our way to our Seattle neighborhood Woodland Park Zoo. We've mostly visited during the winter time for their Zoo Lights events, but this year we've found it to be a stimulating place to learn about animals or at least just point at them and say their names.

I find it hilarious that at our kiddos age, they really don't yet understand the various animals and the regions that they naturally represent. And that they can find fun and joy in the simplest of things like stairs and rocks to climb on.

Once we made our way to see the otters, where the kiddos can smudge their noses on the glass and get right up close - they go crazy.

And the day wouldn't be complete without folks riding on the carousel. Because who doesn't like spinning round and round on a horse moving up and down. Classic.

Documenting Dogs: Mojo and Bubba

Paul Gildea July 22, 2017

I had the pleasure of hanging out and capturing everyday life with Mojo and Bubba. Two older pups with plenty of spunk and personality to go around. They kept me busy running around the yard and would follow their mom where ever she went. I'll be honest, I don't normally focus on dogs as my main subjects, but I would happily consider them as part of the family. So why not experiment a little bit and capture some canine candids? Well I had a great time with these two and hey, if you know anyone looking to document their lives with their furry family - send them my way.
